Featured Speaker:
Representative Julio Cortes
-
Julio Cortes represents Washington’s 38th Legislative District, which includes the City of Everett, City of Marysville, and the Tulalip Reservation. He is proud to be the first immigrant to represent this district and brings a deep commitment to equity, opportunity, and community empowerment.
Representative Cortes spent nearly a decade working with at-risk and homeless youth and their families through his roles at Oasis Teen Shelter and Cocoon House. He now serves as the Economic Development and Marketing Manager for the City of Everett, where he focuses on advancing economic equity, supporting small and mid-sized businesses, and strengthening the region’s aerospace sector.
These experiences have shaped Representative Cortes’ belief that communities thrive when people from all backgrounds are empowered and when public investments meet the needs of working families. His legislative priorities include addressing the root causes of homelessness, expanding economic opportunity statewide, supporting local businesses and uplifting immigrant communities.
Representative Cortes serves as vice chair of the Washington State Latino Democratic Caucus, where he works to elevate the voices of historically underrepresented communities. In the Legislature, he serves as vice chair of the House Early Learning & Human Services Committee, and sits on the Appropriations Committee and the Technology, Economic Development & Veterans Committee.
He is honored to represent the people of the 38th District and remains committed to building a more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient Washington for all.
