2023 Year in Review

In 2023, LCYC provided free legal services to over 800 youth and young adults across Washington State, made possible by your generosity. Here’s how your investment made a difference:

  • We expanded in-person services to Clark, Skagit, and Thurston Counties. LCYC’s legal services are now available in 5 counties to help youth access safe and stable housing. Beyond legal support, LCYC met the urgent, basic needs of youth through flexible financial assistance.

  • We increased collaborative work with community partners, YouthCare and CHOOSE 180, to provide holistic aftercare for young people exiting from jails and prisons. These services are essential to prevent exits from the legal system into homelessness.

  • We grew our support of youth seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile Status in partnership with Northwest Immigrant Rights Project. LCYC helps youth access and secure court orders, a critical step on the journey to obtaining U.S. citizenship.

  • We provided services to protect survivors of gender-based violence. We focused on supporting young parents, LGBTQIA+ youth, and immigrant youth – populations that are disproportionately impacted by gender-based violence.

  • We advocated for systemic change. 2023 legislative wins include expanding access to safe housing for youth, increasing accessibility for name changes, and much more.
