Immigrant Youth

LCYC supports immigrant youth and families across Washington State through direct legal services (for youth), workshops, training, resources, and systemic advocacy. LCYC advocates for youth experiencing separation from parents due to changes in immigration policy and enforcement.

The Immigrant Youth Team is at capacity and not accepting referrals at this time.

IMMIGRANT Youth

LCYC provides direct immigration legal representation for young people that we are currently working with through our other programs. Our services help young people to establish pathways for permanency and legal status, which may include:

  • Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) classification for youth who have been abused, abandoned or neglected by their parent(s)

  • Asylum

  • T Visas

  • U Visas

  • Removal Defense

LCYC also provides direct representation for immigrant youth in Washington state court proceedings such as dependencies and Vulnerable Youth Guardianships. This representation may include petitioning the state court for an order regarding the youth’s eligibility to apply for Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) classification.

If you are not a current LCYC client and need an immigration attorney, please contact our partners, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project. Additionally, the National Immigration Legal Services Directory offers a list of legal aid providers in Washington state that may be able to help.

IMMIGRANT Families

LCYC provides training, workshops, and resources for the Immigrant Safety Plan (ISP) and basic Know Your Rights information. The Immigrant Safety Plan document is a collective community resource to help parents plan for the care of their child(ren) (with or without status) in the event that a parent is unable to care for their child, particularly if the parent is detained or deported.

Systemic Advocacy

LCYC engages in systemic advocacy to improve the policies, practices, and procedures that hinder equitable access and legal protection for immigrant youth and families. Click here for more information on current legislative priorities and updates..
