Stephanie Monroney, director of finance
Stephanie (she/her) graduated with a BS in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. She began her career at Price Waterhouse and subsequently spent many years in the corporate sector working as a finance and accounting leader at the Controller/CFO level. She relocated to Seattle from Denver in 2012 and it was while living in Pioneer Square that she first became acquainted with her unsheltered neighbors. Her experience of interacting with people she met on the streets of Seattle prompted her to leave the corporate world in 2015 to learn about how she could be of service in a non-profit setting.
She began her non-profit journey first through volunteering with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and 501 Commons and then spent six years as a patient companion and grief support volunteer with Providence Hospice. As the Executive Director of two Seattle based nonprofits - Queen Anne Food Bank and Plymouth Healing Communities - she was blessed with the opportunity to do meaningful work that aligned with her values of living and working in community, being of service, and walking alongside others as they navigate systems which are typically overburdened, under-funded, and often stacked against them.
She is also a 2020 graduate of the Upaya Zen Center Chaplaincy program, a visionary and comprehensive two-year program for a new kind of interfaith chaplaincy intended to serve individuals, communities, the environment, and the world by developing the skillful means to work with suffering induced by structural violence. She elected to remain in non-profit service leadership roles working with marginalized communities at the conclusion of her training versus entering more traditional chaplaincy roles in the hospital, hospice, or prison systems.
Stephanie enjoys singing and playing the guitar, practicing hot yoga, and working in her vegetable garden.
