Erin Shea McCann (JD), director of policy & Systemic Advocacy

Erin Shea McCann launched her legal career as an Equal Justice Works fellow at Columbia Legal Services, where she served as co-counsel for the state’s 10,000 foster children in a class action foster care reform settlement agreement. She also advocated to protect the due process rights of foster children in the State Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.

Following her work with Columbia, she joined the Office of Family and Children’s Ombuds, and later worked at The Mockingbird Society where she served as the Director of Public Policy and; Communications. In 2016, Erin started her own consulting firm where she worked with nonprofit organizations, private funders, and government agencies to elevate the needs and voices of vulnerable children and families. LCYC was one of Erin’s clients during her time as a consultant.

Erin started with LCYC in April 2019.

She graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Communication (Journalism) and Political Science. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law.

Erin enjoys adventuring, camping, and snowboarding/skiing around the Pacific Northwest with her husband and their two young children. When she is not out and about she loves reading and spending time with her family in their yard.
