Chach Duarte White (JD), Director of Legal Services

Chach (she/her/ella) is a Director of Legal Services, supporting LCYC’s Youth Homelessness and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) programs. She has represented youth through our homeless youth program and dependencies. She also represents youth in state court actions and secures SIJS order in multiple counties throughout the state and advocates for systemic change for immigrant youth.

Chach was born and raised in the East Bay in California. She is Latina and fluent in both English and Spanish. Chach has a unique background because she is both an engineer and an attorney. Before becoming an attorney, Chach obtained a degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University in 1990. For the following seven years, she worked in the Silicon Valley in manufacturing and high tech before coming to Seattle. In 2000, Chach graduated with her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law. After law school, she provided legal services for low income clients, she (practiced family law - I would delete this) and served as a Family Law Guardian ad Litem. She also advocated for youth in need of special education and served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for youth, particularly Latino/as.  

Chach has experience working with non-traditional students in higher education and understands the barriers that many people face in school and in their professions. She worked for Seattle University School of Law with non-traditional students and supervised students providing legal services to moderate means clients. She served as the Diversity Program Manager for the Washington State Bar Association. In 2012, she was awarded the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington's Abogada Exceptional/Extraordinary Attorney Award and the WSBA Excellence in Diversity Award. In 2018, Chach was awarded the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington's Charles Z. Smith Trailblazer Award for her work in quickly responding to an imminent community need post-elections by developing and designing LCYC's Safety Plan. In 2019, Chach received the Seattle University Alumni Community Service Award.  

In pursuing her interest of access to justice and providing legal services to the Latino/a public, Chach served as the President of the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington. Through this role, Chach focused on advocacy, increasing the pipeline of Latino/a lawyers and supporting low-income Bilingual clinics throughout the state. She is also passionate about an inclusive judiciary and served as the President of the Judicial Institute, which focuses on diversifying the bench in the state of Washington.
