NAOMI STRAND (jd), supervising attorney
Naomi (she/her) was born and raised in a large interconnected web of family and chosen community in Seattle. She was drawn to law school out of a conviction that everyone should have access to and understanding of the legal system and their rights. Initially, Naomi focused primarily on working with people seeking to navigate the public benefits system, first through a fellowship at the Disabled Homeless Advocacy Project at Seattle Community Law Center, and then as a benefits attorney and outreach advocate at Solid Ground. She is a founding Executive Director of Northwest Community Legal Advocates.
Naomi is passionate about working closely with children and youth to hear their stories and develop goals and self-advocacy strategies. She has spent much of her legal career directly delivering a variety of legal services to people at day centers and shelters addressing a wide range of issues. She has also evaluated and improved upon locally-based outreach programs to better address the needs of the people they served. Naomi is further dedicated to advocating for people on issues specific to queer, trans, gender non-conforming and LGB communities.
Naomi received her B.A. at Oberlin College and her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law.
