Lu Jiang oversees LCYC’s new pro bono program aimed at improving and expanding access to justice for youth and young adults in Washington state.
Prior to joining LCYC, Lu was a program manager at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation—the world’s largest private nonprofit organization. Through investment in priority communities and focused on a student-centric mindset, she launched and managed special education initiatives in the U.S. Program Division.
Before entering the nonprofit sector, Lu was a civil litigator in private law practice. Her practice areas included sexual harassment, workplace discrimination, and wage and hour law. She clerked for the Honorable Zulema Hinojos-Fall at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, worked as a Legal Complaint Counselor at the American Civil Liberties Union, and served as a Clinic Attorney with the King County Bar Association’s Housing Justice Project.
A relentless champion for non-traditional students and minorities, Lu founded the Equal Justice Endowment at the University of North Dakota and the Women’s Empowerment Scholarship Endowment at the Seattle Central College, both aimed at providing financial support to the most underserved student populations. In her free time, Lu is a guest lecturer at Seattle University and Seattle Central College.
Lu holds a B.A. in business management from the University of Washington and a J.D. from the University of North Dakota School of Law.
