leslie Somerstein,(JD) Attorney

Leslie brings more than 15 years of dedicated public defense and criminal trial experience to LCYC.

Born and raised in the greater Seattle area, Leslie graduated with a BA from the University of Washington and again chose the University of Washington for law school, where she obtained her JD in 2010.  Her true passion is advocacy. Leslie has dedicated her career to helping others in her community.  Leslie feels strongly that every single member of her community, no matter circumstance, deserves to be empowered, respected, and afforded every opportunity.

Leslie began working for Northwest Defenders Association as a public defender within days of taking the bar exam and continued that work when Northwest Defenders became a division of the King County Department of Public Defense.  Leslie has represented indigent adult and juvenile clients charged with misdemeanors and felonies.  Leslie is looking forward to using her experience at LCYC to ensure that each youth receives holistic and client-centered representation, and feels supported, heard, and valued through the legal process.

Leslie is also passionate about sharing her expertise and knowledge with others through mentoring and teaching fellow attorneys.  Leslie is also a dedicated Washington Huskies fan, loves to travel, is an inveterate reader, and loves French fries. She continues to give back to the community that raiser her, serving on the board of directors of the Stroum Jewish Community Center on Mercer Island.  You’ll oftentimes find Leslie with her exceptionally adorable sidekick, her Australian Labradoodle, Betty.
