Brihana Juá, Community Engagement Fellow
Brihana Juá joined LCYC in July 2026 as a Community Engagement Fellow, where she works to build authentic relationships with young people through face-to-face engagement, listening deeply to their experiences, and ensuring their voices help inform organizational decision-making, programming, and policies. Her work centers on creating meaningful opportunities for youth to be heard, seen, and represented while strengthening relationships between the community and the organization.
Born in Decatur, Georgia, Brihana was raised between Georgia and Florida before relocating to Seattle in 2019. She is a Lebanese-Jamaican, Black queer artist, organizer, educator, and community builder whose work lives at the intersection of creativity, healing, advocacy, and social change.
For more than 11 years, Brihana has worked as an independent professional musician, using music as a vehicle for storytelling, community building, and healing. She is the co-founder of For The Girls Creative Collective, a survivor-led creative collective rooted in creativity, mutual aid, and community care. Through the collective, she develops trauma-informed creative experiences, workshops, and community initiatives that cultivate connection, belonging, and collective healing.
Brihana is also the founder and co-organizer of Rise Up Against Domestic Violence, an annual community march and movement that brings together survivors, artists, advocates, and community to raise awareness, honor lived experiences, and advocate for a future free from domestic violence. Since launching the inaugural march in October 2025, the movement has continued to grow through community partnerships, education, and survivor-centered advocacy.
Most recently, Brihana served as the Community & Social Media Manager for Golden Bricks Events, where she helped strengthen community partnerships, led digital storytelling efforts, and supported outdoor events designed to foster connection, accessibility, and belonging in nature.
As an educator and facilitator, Brihana has led workshops focused on songwriting, vocal performance, creativity, trauma-informed care, and healing-centered community engagement. She has taught at organizations including Rain City Rock Camp, where she mentors girls and gender-expansive youth through music and creative expression. Across every role she holds, Brihana is committed to helping people feel empowered to tell their stories while building communities where everyone can thrive.
Outside of her professional work, Brihana lives in West Seattle and enjoys deepening her spiritual practice, learning about Indigenous lands and her Jamaican heritage, cooking, spending time with her cat, Paris, swimming, and discovering new music. She believes that creativity, curiosity, and genuine human connection are among the most powerful tools for building protective spaces for youth.
