Ivonne Castro
Ivonne Castro (she/her) is a Senior Human Resources Generalist at Legal Counsel for Youth and Children. She brings more than 14 years of experience in Human Resources, beginning her career in hospitality management before transitioning into HR and working across the hospitality, new home development, and construction industries. She earned her degree from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
One of Ivonne’s proudest professional experiences was helping open the Embassy Suites by Hilton Seattle Downtown Pioneer Square Hotel. As part of a small opening team, she helped build the hotel from the ground up, growing the team from five employees to more than 140. Throughout her career, Ivonne has been most passionate about creating positive and meaningful experiences for people throughout their employment journey.
Ivonne was drawn to LCYC because of its commitment to addressing inequities and advocating for children and young people. As a Native Hawaiian who grew up in Hawaiʻi, she has seen firsthand how inequities can shape people’s lives and believes strongly in creating environments where people are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect. Her passion for supporting young people has also extended beyond her career, including three years as a volunteer tutor with Catholic Community Services’ Youth Tutoring Program, where she supported students from historically underrepresented communities in Seattle.
Outside of work, Ivonne is a lifelong dancer who grew up with hula and Tahitian dance in Hawaiʻi. She continues to share her love of Tahitian culture as a member of Te Fare O Tamatoa, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and raising awareness of traditional Tahitian culture through authentic dancing and drumming. In her free time, Ivonne enjoys traveling, reading, staying active, and spending time dancing whenever she can.
