Kat Lohman, policy Manager
Kat Lohman (she/her) joined LCYC in October 2025 as a Policy Manager. Her role within the Systemic Advocacy team is focused on transformation of child welfare systems. Kat was born and raised on the ancestral lands of the Upper Skagit and Coast Salish People, claiming the Skagit Valley as home and holding both white and Uchinanchu (person of Okinawa) heritage.
Kat attended Emerson College in Boston, MA for a bachelor's degree in marketing communications and minor in sociology. She felt lost among peers seeking corporate jobs until she took a nonprofit marketing course. Kat returned home in 2014 for an AmeriCorps VISTA term with Community Action of Skagit County. Since then, Kat has worked a variety of direct services, management, and administrative roles within youth and young adult housing and support services. From street outreach to legislative advocacy, Kat has and always will consider herself a fierce advocate alongside young people.
Before joining LCYC, Kat was the Executive Director of Social Impact with the Skagit Valley Family YMCA. In her previous role, Kat developed and managed five Social Impact programs for youth and young adults ages 12-24, and she was instrumental in securing the funding to rebuild and optimize programs like the Oasis Youth Shelter in Mount Vernon, WA. Kat helped bring the Communities for Functional Zero (C4F0) movement to Skagit County in 2022 and has acted as a leader on functional zero work statewide.
Kat resides with her partner and two cats, Tsunami and Remlin, in so-called Sedro-Woolley, WA. In her free time, she enjoys deepening her connection to indigenous wisdom, family time, cooking, and building playlists.
