Joanna Morales (J.d.), ATTORNEY

Joanna Morales (she/her/ella), is an attorney at LCYC on the Immigrant Youth team. She represents youth in state court proceedings, including in obtaining orders regarding eligibility for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJ), allowing them to pursue permanency in the United States. Joanna has been with LCYC since 2022, when she was an intern. Joanna also supports LCYC's Immigrant Safety Plan program, educating families about the importance of safety planning across Washington state.

Joanna received her Sociology and Hispanic Studies B.A from Pacific Lutheran University in 2019 and became the first in her family to graduate from college. She then pursued her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2024 and has been practicing as an attorney since. Joanna is an arduous advocate, who passionately fights for the rights of youth and her community. She is eager to dive into new areas of law, and to one day call herself an immigration attorney.

Joanna was born in Yakima, WA, but raised in Auburn, WA. Her and her family have been the victims of discrimination, marginalization, oppression, and racial profiling. She became an attorney to advocate for her family and for her community and hopes that they are proud of her.

When Joanna is not busy being an attorney, she loves spending time with her family, puppies, cooking, baking, crafting, or couch rotting. She also loves to travel and is an avid Disney fan. Her goal is to visit all the Disney parks one day!
