Selina Marinas, Legal Assistant
Selina (she/her/ella) is a Legal Assistant with the Immigrant Youth Team at LCYC. She was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States at the age of six, an experience which inspires her commitment to supporting immigrant youth and families.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology from Washington State University and is the first in her family to graduate from college. With over 10 years of legal experience, Selina brings both professional knowledge and personal understanding to her work. As a former Dreamer, Selina is passionate about helping youth understand and navigate the immigration process.
In her current role, Selina assists with drafting and supporting state court matters for immigrant youth, including vulnerable youth guardianships. She is also using her extensive expertise to support youth in their immigration matters (asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, T-Visas, etc) while helping to build the organization’s growing capacity to provide immigration representation before both EOIR and USCIS.
Outside of work, Selina loves spending time with her husband and daughter, including traveling, hiking, and cheering on her daughter at gymnastics competitions.
