Sage Dews, Policy Fellow

Sage (they/them) is a Policy Fellow at LCYC. Their role within the Systemic Advocacy team is to use their lived experience with foster care and homelessness to effectively advocate for systemic change.

Much of their advocacy work has centered on using their lived experience such as their role in the YMCA Advisory Grant Committee, which awarded over $100,000 to nonprofits addressing youth homelessness. In the time since, they have involved themselves with many other opportunities that have allowed them to use their lived experiences to help vulnerable communities. One recent opportunity was their work with AmeriCorps to act as a peer support helping ex-foster youth navigate housing vouchers and resources.

Their continued involvement in social justice is fueled by a deep passion to help improve the future of young people today and recognizing the power that sharing one's voice and experiences can have in reshaping these systems.

In their free time, Sage loves to read, write, and be out in nature.
