Rebecca Cate (JD), Managing Attorney

Rebecca (she/her) is a lifelong resident of the Northwest, having moved to Seattle from Portland, Oregon as a young girl. Rebecca received her BA from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon majoring in International Studies and French. After completing her undergraduate studies and living abroad in India for several months, Rebecca entered law school at Willamette University College of Law, where she received both a Juris Doctor and a certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution.

After law school, Rebecca returned to the Seattle area and joined the plaintiff’s legal team engaged in a civil murder conspiracy trial against Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos in Federal Court. Encouraged by this experience and her mentors litigating the case, Rebecca sought employment with The Defender Association. Rebecca spent eight years with The Defender Association, where she gained invaluable experience providing legal services to children and adults in a variety of cases including dependency, juvenile offender, civil commitment and municipal court matters.

Rebecca’s tenure with The Defender Association also revealed her passion for advocating for youth and children. Rebecca found the perfect fit when hired to work at LCYC and is inspired daily by the skilled and passionate advocacy of her LCYC colleagues on behalf of youth and children.
